AmazeBox by Mark Shortland

Once in a while we come across a trick with a method that is as inspiring and whimsical as the effect it creates. "AmazeBox" is the best example of this that we've ever encountered (think of the wow factor of the best Tenyo items...but this one you can use onstage for hundreds of people). It is simply, elegantly this: a box that switches and forces without you ever touching it. No electronics. In fact, the method is most closely related to origami.

Imagine this: you ask everyone in the audience to write down their favorite song (or first kiss, or three-digit number, or whatever you want) on a slip of paper and drop it into the cardboard box at the foot of the stage. The box never goes out of sight and (truly) nobody touches it. During your show, you invite a spectator to approach the box and open it, then reach inside and remove any slip at random. In the act of opening the box, the spectator unknowingly switches all the audience's papers for an entirely different batch of slips you prepared in advance. Use this to force a favorite song or number or celebrity name. THEN, you can use the information written by the spectators later on in the show.

Mentalists will immediately identify the many, many opportunities this little box affords. It's as light as air, can be decorated or repurposed in any way you like, and is quite possibly the only effect we've produced that is easier than easy. The spectator switches the papers. You don't even touch the box.

We're absolutely thrilled with the ingenuity of this incredible little box, and the way the box is designed and folded makes the switch automatic. It's impossible to fail and, we think, impossible to figure out. The fun, toy factor is undeniable, but true professionals will find this piece invaluable. We are grateful to the creative Mark Shortland for working with Vanishing Inc. Magic on this exciting new release.

"Mark Shortland has created an ingenious and devious solution to an age old problem. Natural looking, hands off in operation and simple to use; this might well be exactly what you are looking for."
- Luke Jermay

"AmazeBox is enormously practical, and is as ingenious as the best Tenyo effects, but built into a stage prop that looks entirely normal"
- Joshua Jay

"I've never been so excited for a magic utility device in my career!"
- Kyle Marlett

"I'm using AmazeBox in my show. As soon as I saw it I knew that every mentalist and magician could find a use for it in their show too!"
- Andi Gladwin

Xpert by Neil Tobin

Bend coins. Predict the future. Transport objects.

For 10 years, Xpert has been one of mentalism's best kept secrets.

Now for the first time, discover the utility device, one that's already being used by performing mentalists and magicians who appreciate its understated power and seemingly limitless possibilities. Utilizing the subtle principle illuminated in Kenton Knepper's manuscript, X, and launching it into the next dimension, the Xpert makes possible a wide variety of miraculously direct and virtually sleight-free effects.

You'll be blown away by both its limitless power, and its simplicity. The very best kind of mentalism tool.

List of effects included

Dream Card
Show that a freely selected card (really) is the one card you had previously dreamed about. (Based on an effect by Terri Rogers in Wipe Out.)

Coin Bend
Make a single coin from a borrowed handful of change bend while being held by its owner.

Vampire Slayer
Your participant's power as a slayer is tested by trying to locate the one card in the pack representing a vampire. The vampire unfortunately gets away, but not before leaving the participant with a spooky souvenir.

Contagious
A strange deck of cards acts like a virus. First it replicates another deck all the way down to a selected, reversed card—then it wipes the original deck completely blank in a surprising climax. (Created with Joe Wach)

3 Coin Monte
In this streamlined three-phase monte routine, your participant seeks the one marked coin out of three to win all the money on the table. Of course, he never has a chance, but he's given the coin as a reminder of his gambling adventure. (Created with Adam McDivitt)

Out of Body
A borrowed coin leaves a borrowed handful of change to end up in another participant's pocket (or in virtually any other seemingly impossible location).

Epic
This fooling variation of Hen Fetsch's Mental Epic uses three numbered postcards containing three correct predictions, and everything can be left with the audience afterward.

Memorandum
In this apparent demonstration of mind control, three participants are individually shown the same number (supplied by a fourth participant) but all three see it in three bewilderingly different ways. (Variation on the effect by Joshua Quinn in Paralies)

Cards of Influence by Kenton Knepper and Mark Townsend

This book is a shining gem of a collection featuring supremely practical effects and marvelous examples of rock solid, real-work scripting.

Among my favorite effects are an inspired variation on Frank Garcia’s “Wild Card” and a really lovely variation on the “Split Deck.”

I was especially impressed with the generous spirit of the writing here. As the authors share one smart alternative handling after another there is a sense that they are completely focused on you the reader and care deeply about imparting their creative knowledge in as clear, humble and patient a manner as possible.

Such a gift!" - Jay Sankey

"Obviously, the title will turn off those of you who don't use playing cards for mentalism effects. Too, this work explores very creative uses with gimmicked decks, such as the Wild Card set, the Split Deck, the McCombical Prediction Decks, and an original deck called the BMD (Blatantly Marked Deck).

There's also some work with the tarot. All of the routines with these decks have a subliminal, or Kenton-esque, edge to them. And all of the routines are intriguing and well-thought out.

This is actually a more accessible work by Kenton (and friends) than some of his others which require you to be have a certain familiarity with Kenton's performing philosophies (i.e., "Kentonism"). If the premise of this work interests you, then you'll enjoy this." - Jheff

Kenton Knepper tips some of his highly successful and wildly entertaining examples for the public on subliminal influence and word power – using cards no less!

Mark Townsend is a student of Kenton’s who is well known for adding deeper dimensions and unusual presentations to all of his effects.

These two extraordinary thinkers present material you will use right away that is unlike nearly anything else you may have seen or read before.

You will find everything from close up material and magic, to story-telling effects, weerd pieces, never-before-seen card concepts and yes, even mentalism. Here are just a few of the effect as the audience sees them...

A card, object or anything else is apparently seen inside a crystal ball by a spectator. NO gimmicks.

Letters on blank cards are mixed by spectators yet return to their original state and more under the fairest conditions imaginable. Truly UNIQUE magic.

A spectator cannot avoid the performer's subliminal influence on repeated occasions, ultimately unable to move or do anything but be influenced "as if hallucinating and smelling laughing gas" - This is a riot for everyone, including the spectator.

Design Duplication made easy, with the audience realizing that they are the ones who have been hypnotized as a finale.

A marked deck you can read clear across the stage or down the hall...

And MUCH, MUCH MORE.

Memorable and unusual effects made simple, as only Kenton and his Students can.

EASY to do material. Basic card sleights or no sleights at all are required.

You should have a basic background in card sleights if you wish to perform all of this material. Other effects incorporate standard trick decks available at most dealers. In many cases you can simply make your own cards with a marker and blank cards, or use a regular deck, to perform material in this book.

Includes these favorites:

Subliminally Wild

Your Spell Is Numbered

The Well

Amethyst

Subliminal McCombical

...to name a few.

With bonus effects by Allen Zingg. Be prepared for some real twists!

80 Pages of surprising, easy, innovative card magic and mentalism. It's Kenton - so you know it's not like anything else with cards - ask Jay Sankey!

Classics Gone Wild Boris Wild

Boris Wild is a creative force in magic. Now this FISM winner shares an ENTIRE LECTURE of new material exclusively with Vanishing Inc. Magic. Running one hour in length, Boris takes us through some of his newest, most interesting material. You will learn:

SHOW OFF: A fast-paced routine with two selections and an extremely cool ending.

INEXPLICABLE: This is a squeaky clean prediction effect in which an isolated card ends up matching a selection. It gives the appearance of a total lack of manipulation, and total fairness.

POP (Perfect Open Prediction): Boris takes a blue backed card and openly shows the Eight of Clubs to be the prediction. The spectator then takes a red deck and deals the cards face up until she gets a feeling, and at that point she deals one card face down into the face-up pile...When this reversed card is revealed, it is shown to be the Eight of Clubs.

ACAAB (Any Card At Any Birthday): This is Boris' new signature effect. We won't spoil the surprise for you, but there is no POSSIBLE way to intuit the method of this clever, engaging, and entertaining new take on a classic plot.

Running time: 1 hour, 5 minutes

Who is he?

I am a native Californian. I started doing Magic when I was seven years old. My father took my older brother and me to a “father/son banquet”. After dinner, there was a magician performing for the group. Needless to say, I was hooked!

My older brother had assembled a “shoe box” of Magic. Like most kids, he was interested for about two weeks. Luckily, I was the beneficiary of his lack of interest--and I, on the other hand, stuck to it and Magic became very important to me.

I loved reading, so the library became a tremendous resource center for my hobby. My favorite books were Bruce Elliott’s Classic Secrets of Magic and Henry Hay’s Amateur Magician’s Handbook. I also had my parents take me to any Magic show in the area. I also made most of my own props from cardboard and juice cans. My parents would buy me a “real trick” for birthdays and Chanukah. The trips to Hollywood, visiting Joe Berg’s Magic Studio, Bert Wheeler’s Hollywood Magic, and the Magic Shoppe at Disneyland were special events that I still remember. I also purchased tricks from the catalogs of The Top Hat Magic Company, Vic Lawston, and Haines’ House of Cards.

I put on little shows in my backyard along with some of the neighborhood kids. My first “paid” show was for my three year old cousin’s birthday. The party was held in a community park and during the festivities, my Aunt Selda’s purse was stolen. I still got paid my 3 dollar fee!

Throughout school, I continued performing for other children’s parties and I became more and more comfortable with each performance. I took all the money I earned and put it back into props from the catalogs and shops. In junior high (now middle school), I started a Magic Club and the group of kids put on shows for the entire school. It was also during this time that I found other kids in the area that did Magic, too. We started another group that met on Saturday, once-a-month. The Dante Magic Club was held in various homes and community meeting rooms. We were un-officially sponsored by Alvin Jansen, the son of the famous magician Dante. Our group was wonderful and our alumni included Paul Harris and Harry Anderson. We had lectures from famous performers like Arnold Furst, Eric Lewis, and Alan Wakeling. We put on some wonderful community shows and continued our love of the art.

The Dante Magic Club continued through my high school years and one special event turned my life into the dream I continue to live now. When I was twelve years old, we had Bill Larsen Jr., the publisher and editor of Genii Magazine, come to my home and lecture. Along with the discussion of the magazine, he also told us about the plans for a new Magic club in Hollywood. All of the kids were very excited about the Academy of Magical Arts and its clubhouse, the Magic Castle. In 1963, Mr. Larsen invited the members of the Dante Magic Club and our parents to have dinner at the club. This “field trip” was wonderful as were surrounded by the real Magic of the Magic Castle.

I continued my friendship with Mr. Larsen and when I was eighteen years old, he asked me to appear in the Close-Up Gallery of the Magic Castle. I worked with Jules Lenier and Jerry Blount, the publishers of Talisman Magazine and developed my first act. It was wonderful as I got to meet the great personalities of Magic. The Professor--Dai Vernon, Charlie Miller, Johnny Platt, Kuda Bux, and Joe Berg were just a few. They were very nice to me and helped me become a better magician and performer. When I turned 21, my girlfriend and now my wife of over 40 years gave me my official membership to the AMA. Over the years I have been fortunate to meet, and work with, the likes of Ron Wilson, Bruce Cervon, Mark Wilson and Nani Darnell, Francis Carlyle, Martin Nash, Bob Sheets, J. C. Wagner, Steve Spill, and so many others.

I also started working at restaurants and eventually worked at one Beverly Hills eatery for over 25 years! I also had the good fortune to work for many A-list celebrities--Cary Grant, Natalie Wood, Robert Wagner, and Elizabeth Taylor to name a few. I also started performing at trade shows for companies like Monsanto and IBM. Other venues included cruise ships which visited many exotic locations. It was, and is, a wonderful life!

I have lectured around the world and released two DVD’s: In the Trenches and The Classic Force. Both of which have garnered great reviews and accolades. My lecture notes, Take A Stroll With Me and Nothing Up My (Green)Sleeves have gone through multiple printings. I have been honored with Lecturer of the Year and Close-Up Magician of the Year awards from the Academy of Magical Arts at the world-famous Magic Castle. Additionally, I have been a columnist for the Magic Menu and participated in the Live at the Jailhouse DVD set.

Currently, I am still involved with the AMA and the Magic Castle. I am also a member of The Elders which is a group of mentalists in the Southern California area. I am still married to Suzanne and have one daughter Rebecca.

Out Of Your Mind by Karl Hein

Karl Hein has developed an Out of This World exactly tailored to the needs of a working performer. In effect, the spectator is able to perfectly separate a shuffled pack by color. Karl's effect ticks all the boxes a professional wants:
It's fast: most Out of This World effects last far too long. This one gets straight to the point.
The best switch: The switch Karl uses for the packets is imperceptible, and logical. Most routines have a "weird" moment near the end.
The spectator shuffles: this is key. You want to make sure the spectators, themselves, have mixed the cards.

Richard Osterlind - 13 Miracles with Billets

13 Miracles with Billets - Click Image to Close
Earlier this year, Richard Osterlind traveled to Europe to give master classes in Belgium, France and Italy. While in Paris, he was approached by his friend Burt Wayne, to perform and record what could only be called “Street Mentalism” in front of Notre Dame Cathedral. Alternating back and forth, Richard and Burt performed for spectators from many different countries.

The material is a mixture of standard effects and original routines. The spontaneous nature of the recording is fascinating to watch and truly reflects real-world conditions. Time after time, you will see startled expressions of joy on travelers from around the world and you will learn new presentations from even ideas you already know!

It is important to mention the entire video is made up of billet work requiring basically no props. Richard’s luggage, in fact, had been lost by the airline and he was forced to borrow a jacket and work in jeans! Yet, with the exception of just one routine that uses a Swami and a cheap blackboard he had purchased, simple billets and blank index cards are all that was used to create first-class performances!

In addition to Burt’s great contributions (he is also a top-class performer), he took it upon himself to hire an expert editor which has resulted in a totally professional recording. The explanations are clear and concise with cuts to the performing segments to make everything understandable.

This is a video you will certainly learn from! Many of the effects could have been sold separately for the price of the entire DVD!

Coup d'Etat by Jean-Pierre Vallarino

At the very beginning of the trick, give 2 small bags to 2 different spectators and an envelope sealed with a padlock to a third one. The deck is shown and spectators can see it is normal and mixed.

You ask one of the spectators to remix the deck. The deck is turned over then spread in a ribbon, so that each spectator takes hold of one part. Nobody can know the cards he holds, neither himself nor you. The spectators separate their red cards from the black.
The two first spectators count the number of red cards and black cards they hold, then open the bags you previously gave them. They contain the exact amount of chips: red and black!

The third spectator is now asked to open the padlock... in vain. You then ask him to try to open it with the 4 numbers corresponding to the number of red and black cards from his 2 mates. The padlock opens and he can himself pull out a third prediction on a piece of cardboard is written the amount of red and black cards from his packets. He can check everything is correct. Impossible?

DVD instructions only, no props included.  All props needed should be available anywhere.

The sticker, with no cover, very slowly disappears right before your spectator's eyes.

But the reactions really kick in when they open their hands to check out the card they have been holding since the very start. They discover that the marked sticker has made an impossible journey and it is now stuck on their very own card which they can keep as a souvenir.

Colin McLeod - Epiphanies

IMG_1326
For the last two years, Colin McLeod has been off the radar. He’s been working hard behind the scenes on his real world performances, both for TV and stages around the world.

What you’ll learn in this book is the material he’s been refining during that time.

Thought Square
With nothing written down by anyone, you show that you have taken a photograph of a grid of random digits; all of which add up to the spectator’s thought of number. This is Colin’s take on the classic ‘Magic Square.’ Not only will you love the method, you’ll also find that his radically different reveal sequence is what now makes this the perfect opener for any show to ensure you engage everyone and have their full attention before proceeding. This routine was initially going to be the only routine in the notes as it really is a revolutionary approach. Every detail has been covered. So after reading this routine, you can pretty much consider everything else in the book to be a wonderful bonus.

Prophecy
A spectator is asked to randomly think of a celebrity based on whether they are male or female, a singer or actor and living or dead. They make their choices and think of someone. You then reveal who they thinking of with perfect accuracy. Nothing is written down and nothing is chosen from cards, a list, etc. This happens in their mind. In the notes you will learn how to perform this with a ‘special something’ that you probably already own, or how to do it completely impromptu.

Thief
This is Colin’s approach to astonishing Max Maven’s routine ‘Desire’. He’s changed the handling and the structure. The results? A routine which feels completely hands off where you’re able to reveal the questions and answers of people in the audience. Not questions about their future. No. The exact question that you would have to know the answer to, about them, that would convince them that you can read their mind. They will obviously all leave convince. Colin explains how he’s turned this piece, which is typically used as a body language reading demonstration and converted it to an entire mind reading act in itself.

Use The Force
Almost ten years ago, Colin released his first manuscript called ‘Force Be WithYou.’ Part of that manuscript taught you how to perform a real time ‘PK Touch’ sequence on stage with no electronics. It was a limited release manuscript and it will never be printed again. However, Colin has been working on and improving one of the methods taught within those pages and now, for the first time, will teach the updated work on how to perform the real time touch on stage. With a spectator’s eyes firmly closed, you mime tapping above their extended hand and they count out loud with each touch they feel land, in real time. Simple.

The Real Bookless Test
This is probably the routine Colin is known for more than any other. Since performing it on his original DVD set ‘Opening Minds’ and then on ‘Penn and Teller: Fool Us’ he has been working on making it as streamlined as possible. This new approach will allow you to start and end with your hands clean. You’ll immediately be able to show your hands empty once the on stage participant is thinking of words and now you only need one envelope as a prediction. This will immediately become the new method for performing this sequence.

The Zen Billet Peek
This is something Colin has used more than anything else in Mentalism. Learn his work on Millard Longman’s Acidus Novus. You’ll gain a full understanding of what he has added to it to ensure people think you never touched the billet. Every action and step has been thought out to allow you to perform it fully surrounded close up or on stage.

Prev’
Colin has taken his ‘Serial Prevaricator’ routine and streamlined it into a routine which guarantees you’ll know which of two people is holding THEIR borrowed banknote. You’ll then reveal which hand it’s in. You will then play ‘Note in Hand’ and reveal where it is with perfect accuracy over and over again with no electronics. Finally, as a kicker, you can reveal the serial number too.

These notes are fun and too the point. Every detail has been covered in this 130 page, pocket book. There are plenty of photographs to ensure that small details are made perfectly clear and you’ll learn about the evolution of each piece.

Colin has also provided two thought provoking essays which will give you plenty of food for thought and ensure that you’re approaching this art form with the correct mindset and standards.

Welcome to Epiphanies.

Tarbell 40: Card Mysteries

In this lesson, you'll learn how to make your card tricks more intriguing for your audience by bringing a sense of motivation and drama to them.

Dan begins with a modern take on the repeat card mystery by substituting a seemingly endless supply of gift cards that eventually consolidate.

For a second version, he attempts to achieve a simple balance between two helpers, but the cards refuse to co-operate, so they scrap the whole thing.

In yet another repeat card mystery, Dan injects a humorous poker theme as he attempts to get rid of an extra card and fails each time until he reveals his hand.

Then, Dan shows off his incredible speed and marksmanship in an updated version of a thumbtack trick, where he uses a standard staple gun to locate the card.

Next, the longtime favorite "Card on the Ceiling" still holds up, and Dan teaches you every detail to ensure your success even on the strangest ceiling.

Then, a variation of the preceding effect finds the card travelling from one packet to another before making it's final stop overhead.

And, ceilings aren't the only place to decorate with cards, as demonstrated when a selected card penetrates the box to appear on the wall.

Plus, a neat variation puts Dan in a sporting mood as his opponent and him use ping-pong paddles to produce a pleasant piece of perplexing prestidigitation.

Then, you're treated to multiple clever methods to melt one or more cards through a handkerchief, rise up through it, or even change into a different card.

In one unusual method, the handkerchief deftly exchanges a joker for the selected card while preventing you from manipulating the deck in any way.

Next, Dan tackles a trick with a twisted and confusing conclusion by taking a little time-travelling trip to put everything where it's not supposed to be.

Then, six selections are sealed in an envelope and one of Dan's helpers makes her card penetrate out, leaving Dan to name all the others.

Plus, there's a couple of reversed card mysteries, including a double-reverse which happens to be Dan's favorite impromptu card trick of all time.

Yes, this lesson covers a wide variety of tried-and-true plots with Dan's modern twists designed to engage and impress any size audience.

Calculated Risk Plus by Michael Murray

UPDATED AND EXPANDED: NOW CONTAINS 9 CUTTING EDGE ROUTINES/IDEAS/TECHNIQUES

"When it comes to anything and everything amazing with iPhones, you MUST explore the in-depth work of Michael Murray." - Gregory Wilson

"Perfect Opener is one of the most genius and bold ideas I've read in a LONG time.

"Michael is the master when it comes to these things and this book is testimont to that." - Colin McLeod

Feature Routine:

Calculated Risk is a completely impromptu effect in which you are seen to unlock TWO borrowed iPhones.

Using nothing more than two borrowed iPhones any time, any place, anywhere, you will be set to amaze your spectators with your deductive abilities.

This 54 page book now contains all of the following and more -

Calculated Risk (Feature Routine) - Unlock TWO borrowed mobiles in an incredibly easy fashion.

Perfect Opener - The spectator names ANY four digits, they are typed into your genuine phone lock screen and your mobile opens.

iSwami - A method for using the iPhone calculator to seemingly predict any two digit number.

One in Ten Thousand - Have a spectator intuit (or predict) any four digit number/pin code/unlock code.

Feedback - Did you know your iPhone has a memory for numbers?

Phone Clone - Show just how vulnerable out phone security system actually is.

Identity Theft - A method for stealing your spectators identity.

Frosties Reveal - Reveal your spectators exact DOB or Starsign.

Noted - The notes application on either your, or the spectators mobile will become your new peek device.

Note: Although the primary effect and a few others will work with any iPhone, a couple of the routines do require the use of newer iPhone models.

Silky Smooth Card Magic by Lance Pierce (2 DVD)

undefined

Aces Up: The four Aces are meticulously and fairly lost in the deck, only to rise back to the top. There is a moment in the performance of this effect--you'll know it when you see it--when Lance flashes some indifferent cards to show the Aces have not yet risen. This fooled us completely. Gorgeous routine.

A Logical Conclusion: Lance's masterful take on a Larry Jennings effect in which an entire packet of cards changes in the most unexpected manner.

Modern Follow the Leader: Lance puts his eloquent touch on the classic plot. This is, we think, the definitive version of this classic effect.

Deliberate Sidesteal Finesse: Lance adds a dribble into the middle of the Sidesteal action, which aids in making the sleight very casual and fair.

The Whisperers: Four Queens change into two selected cards in an unexpected way.

Perfectionistic: This unusual plot (thanks to Paul Harris) is seldom seen, and here it gets the Lance Pierce treatment. Despite Lance's best efforts, he is magically unable to mix red cards into black cards. Every time he shuffles them together, they mysteriously separate. This is a masterclass in false shuffles and cuts, all taught by Lance (except for the Zarrow Shuffle, which is not covered).

Cutting for Carey: An INGENIOUS routine in which you cut to four Queens, and then change them into the four Aces.

Turnkai Change: A challenging but beautiful color change that is smooth as silk in Lance's deft fingers.

Chris Capehart LIVE (Penguin LIVE)

"Chris Capehart says he's a Master Magician, and he really is. He learned his craft on the streets, and then when he came indoors -- wow! He doesn't just work a room; he owns it." - Max Maven

"Thousands of shows on the streets make you strong and teaches many lessons and no one has learned those lessons more than Chris Capehart. He’s taken those lessons and become one of today's top comedy magic performers in the world. Don’t miss this once in a lifetime opportunity from a true master of the craft. Chris is truly the best of the best..." - Kozmo

"Chris Capehart is one of the important forces in magic today. He is a fine magician, but more importantly, he is an artist who is primarily interested in entertaining his audiences. Watching his show is instructive in and of itself, but the opportunity to hear him lecture is an event not to be missed." - Rich Bloch

"Why does Chris get standing ovations? It is not the effect that makes the star, rather the star that makes the effect. It's become the combination of great timing, comedy sensibility and great Magic combined. Anyone can fill the stage with feathers and flowers. Chris can fill a stage with a single rose, that's why he and his rings are the best I've seen. That's entertainment." - Rocco

"Chris Capehart is an amazing Master Magician. His lecture is full of practical information. He is a joy to watch." - Losander

"Concerning Chris Capehart – Yes, I have known Chris since a teenager working the streets of Philadelphia. This is where he has sharpened his skills and he does have more know-how and skill than any magician I have known. He has worked my Super Sunday Magic Convention many, many times to standing applause. His lecture will educate everyone young and old. He is a walking encyclopedia in making a living as a magician, and his knowledge covers every part of the magic business. He will be an asset to you as a lecturer, believe me." - Bob Little

"Chris Capehart is one of my absolute favorite magicians! He's funny, fast, and fearless. The moment he steps out onto the stage, he owns it, and he stays in command every moment until he leaves them laughing in his wake. For audiences small and large, young and old, his results are the same and his impact immeasurable." - Jamy Ian Swiss

"I have watched Chris do his Miser's Dream and other coin work for our audiences for the last four years. This routine always gets them going. It is definitely a guaranteed winner." - Michael Chaut, Monday Night Magic, New York Producer

Code Breaker by Michael Murray presented by Gregory Wilson

"You will learn how to get into somebody's LOCKED phone" -Gregory Wilson

"This scares the $#@! out of people."

You know that warning label you sometimes see? "For entertainment purposes only"? This trick needs that ALL over it... cause in the wrong hands.. not good.

No apps to install. This is the real deal.

It's the kind of secret you take to the grave with you. Except Michael Murray didn't. Lucky us :)

When I saw the early cut of Code Breaker... I honestly couldn't believe it. Then I started to get paranoid I was seeing black helicopters following me home. Code Breaker borders on secret agent training. It's a skill you maybe don't want people to know you have.

So.. please don't get us in trouble. Be smart. How you use this is ultimately up to you. All I can say is... well, you guessed it... for entertainment purposes only :)

Pen OR Pencil by Mickael Chatelain

We are really happy to present to you the NEW TRICK of Mickael CHATELAIN : PEN or PENCIL!! For the first time, No playing card needed! An exclusive and very visual effect, so easy to perform! Based on a well known handling, this effect will fool your spectators!

The well-known English magician, Dynamo, has done this several times on his TV show, "Dynamo: Magician Impossible." Today it's your turn to do "Pen or Pencil" for your spectators.
The simplest things are often the most difficult to implement. Here's the proof!

PEN or PENCIL
By Mickael Chatelain

Today, Mickael Chatelain is offering his new creation, Pen or Pencil. Based on a simple principle, this new, extremely visual effect will completely fool your spectators.

This time, no playing cards, just two writing implements - one transparent Bic pen with its cap and a wooden pencil.

Take out the Bic and the pencil in front of your audience. You have nothing else in your hands. A wooden pencil in one hand, a Bic pen in the other, that's it! Invite one of you spectators to chose either.

Let's say he chooses the wooden pencil. Place it into your trouser pocket, leaving only the Bic pen in your hand - nothing else.

Remove the cap from the Bic while explaining that you'll make it disappear merely by blowing on it. You don't believe me? Close your fingers around the cap and blow on your hand. When you open your hand, the trick seems to have failed as the cap is still right there in the palm of your hand! It hasn't vanished!

Explain that it's not the cap that was supposed to disappear, but the Bic pen!

I don't have to describe the reaction of your spectators when they notice that you are no longer holding the Bic pen in the the other hand but rather the wooden pencil!!!

The Bic has completely disappeared without a trace! A disappearance in full view! Your spectators won't believe their eyes. With just a fleeting glance at the cap, the Bic has changed places with the wooden pencil!

It's completely impossible. You haven't moved a muscle! You then proudly take the Bic from your pocket where moments ago you had put the wooden pencil.

An absolutely unbelievable transposition! An effect that we guarantee will drive your spectators crazy! You may, if you wish, hand out both the Bic and the pencil for examination at the end of the routine.

Do it for yourself in front of a mirror. You'll fool yourself, so strong is the illusion!

Take Note:

No pulls, no manipulation!
You have only the Bic and the pencil in your hands, nothing else.
The pen and the pencil are really different; no one could confuse them.
You can learn to effect the change in five minutes!
Perfect for close-up or in the street. You'll keep it on you at all times.
Instant reset!
Delivered complete and ready to go!

The DVD will explain everything you need to know!

Under Wraps Mark Mason

"I set myself a task last year, to make a changing card case that is fully examinable, with no switch etc. It had to be the same box that changed. After many methods and many hours of development work, 'Under Wraps' is my final answer." -Mark Mason

Show a card case to the audience; under the cellophane, on the card case, there is a face down card and a face up 3 of Diamonds. You explain the reason for the 3 of Diamonds being on every box, is that this is the card that most spectators select.

A regular deck is removed from the box and the joker is given to the spectator. They slide the joker into the deck, anywhere they like. The card next to the joker will be the selected card. This will be the 3 of Diamonds and will prove why there is a picture of it on the box.

The selected card is revealed ---- it's the 10 of Hearts. They picked the wrong card. The deck is shown, the cards are still in new deck order, the only one missing is the 10 of Hearts. You now instruct the spectator to flip over the box. The card UNDER THE CELLOPHANE is now the 10 OF HEARTS, matching their chosen card.

This is a great piece of close up magic, it resets in seconds, is so easy to do, it's great.

You could actually give the box to the spectator as a souvenir. The deck can be used as your regular deck for any other tricks you love to do.

Comes complete with bicycle card case and 2 custom made magnetic gimmicks.

Remember

The change is UNDERNEATH THE CELLOPHANE.

No elastic.

Nothing flips.

No flaps.

A regular card box is used.

Who is he?

At age six, John decided he wanted to be a Wizard when he grew up. He's been studying magic since -- 50 years later! Today he is a professional entertainer, author and strange person. During the 1982 Knoxville World's Fair, he successfully solved the Rubik's Cube while blindfolded. Professor Erno Rubik thought this was the most amazing thing he had ever witnessed.

John was one of the featured entertainers at the 2008 Inaugural Ball, and he is a popular guest on television and radio programs. He has even read palms over the radio! He also enjoys speaking for Civic clubs on a variety of topics including Intuition, Memory, and Weight Reduction. His books, written under the name Jon Saint Germain -- Runic Palmistry, Karmic Palmistry, and A Lover's Guide to Palmistry-- are available in bookstores and from his website. Because of his eclectic knowledge of all things magical and psychic, he has been retained as a consultant for a series of programs for the Learning Channel.

John practices what he preaches. Struggling with a lifelong eating disorder, he applied his techniques to solving the riddle of why a person would consume food when he isn't really hungry. He found answers, and his weight dropped from almost 300 pounds to 200 pounds in a year and a half.

John is a graduate of the University of Tennessee, where he majored in Studio Art, Pellissippi State Technical Community College, where he majored in Mechanical Engineering, and Indiana University, where he earned a degree in Literary Illustration. Now he reads minds for a living. Funny how things turn out.

If you could ask ONE question to one of the world's most creative professional magicians, what would it be?

If you've never been to a magic lecture, there’'s never been a better time. Sunday, October 11th, at 7:00pm, we're live-streaming John Riggs LIVE in a spectacular 2-hour interactive online lecture. Watch, ask questions, and learn things you won't find in any book or DVD.

Oil Unrigged by Jordan Cotler Big Blind media

Jordan Cotler's 'Oil Unrigged' is a beautiful four phase Oil & Water routine that is as outrageously impressive as it is burnable! Taking the renowned 'Technicolor Oil & Water' as its inspiration, this routine moves things up a notch by dispensing with any gaff cards (just grab some cards from a blue backed and a red backed deck and get ready to blow some minds). Yep - impromptu and no gaffs.

Watch as four red cards (front and back) are interlaced with four blue backed, black faced cards. Over four increasingly impossible phases those cards just KEEP separating into their respective colors. No matter how cleanly they are interlaced, they just seem to separate like the proverbial Oil and Water!

Taught in clear, concise instructions over a 30min Instant Download this is a fantastic piece of magic that is achievable for any card magician and is something you'll be grateful to have in your arsenal the next time someone asks you to 'show em a card trick'.

"This routine is a KILLER."
- David Solomon

THE LAST WORD BY MARK ELSDON

PLEASE NOTE: 'The Last Word' is recomended for experienced performers only. Previous knowledge of how to solve the Rubik's Cube is assumed.

The Ultimate Rubik’s Cube effect!

First came Rubik Remembered.

Then Rubik Predicted.

And now, finally: The Last Word.

What is it? An utterly impossible prediction effect of not just how an audience will randomly mix up a Rubik’s Cube, but a 100% accurate prediction of exactly how to solve it! Whilst other performers are messing about predicting sports results, headlines and lottery numbers, you can beat odds of 43 quintillion-to- one against!!

It absolutely kills an audience. Any audience. Every audience.

Originally designed for use in a stand-up show, the kind of audience size which is traditionally referred to as ‘cabaret’, the great news is that it works equally well as a stage piece in a 2000-seater theatre and in any kind of close-up setting. It is absolutely perfect for corporate entertainers.

Ideally, you need to be able to solve a Rubik’s Cube. Although this effect is probably the best ever reason to learn!

Reviews:

When I first saw Mark perform this the audience just got more and more involved as it went on, and what's worse is that I got more and more fooled as it went on! I literally had no idea how Mark could possibly do what he was doing. The routine is so incredible looking and yet it is so, so simple! This is without doubt the ULTIMATE presentation for the Rubik Cube solve. - Colin McLeod

This presentation takes the Cube out of the standardised setting it is usually seen in. Although I think that Mark’s regular cube solve is a powerful piece when he performs it, The Last Word squeezes even more amazement and astonishment out of the unsuspecting audience members. It is a mind-**** for sure! Mark is a genius in the field, there are no two ways about it. - Paul Brook

I like it. A lot. In my humble opinion, this is bloody ingenious. I would love to go on at length about exactly why it's so good, but I can't without revealing too much. It's the sort of thing that seems so impossible, and yet is so simple and so out- in-the-open that I just have to marvel at it. I dearly wish I could have seen it performed before I had read about it, because it would have kept me up nights. - Joshua Quinn

Red Mint by Victor Sanz

Victor Sanz, creator of best-sellers such as Ink-a-Change, presents a new street magic effect. An explosion of magic for the senses. A pack of gum visually changes color and flavor: first the box, then a single piece of gum and finally all of the pieces visible in the box.
Each change is more impossible and visual than the previous, you'll be creating special effects live. Best of all, at the end, you can hand out the gum so the spectator can confirm that not only the color changed but the flavor changed too!! The pack includes a gimmick which will do all the work for you, handmade by the author. You will also receive an instructional video in Spanish with English subtitles (download).

Against All Odds By Alakazam Magic

If there is one thing we all have in common it's that everybody wishes they could predict the Lottery and with odd of almost 14,000,000 to 1 it seems very unlikely!

Lottery fever is a worldwide phenomenon and there was a time you couldn't walk in to a shop without seeing some novelty way of generating your numbers.

Osterlind's 13 Steps: Step 13: Muscle Reading

Tarbell 39: Fundamental Card Sleights

Card magic requires a foundation in various techniques which accomplish secret goals without calling attention to themselves.

Although entitled Fundamental Card Sleights, this lesson goes beyond the fundamentals by providing a variety of controls, cuts, counts, and more.

First, a card (freely chosen from the center of the deck, remembered, and returned) is controlled to the top using a deviously direct technique.

Then, another card, merely peeked in the middle of the pack, pops instantly to the bottom.

After that, Dan explores multiple uses of the versatile Kelly Bottom Placement, both to control selected cards and secretly transfer them to hidden locations.

Then, a simple idea gets new life as a surprising torn & restored translocation, and Dan shows you a convenient way to control multiple cards at the same time.

Plus, to showcase a few creative ways to cut the cards, Dan debuts a brand-new, interactive high-card cutting routine that makes you look like a champion.

Next, you will learn ways to false count cards, and Dan puts a couple of them into practice with a quick, new opening gag that gets everyone paying attention.

And, you'll learn the basic way to fan a deck of cards for display or selection, and how you can make it look like all the cards are blank.

Finally, Dan finishes up this more-than-fundamental lesson with an envelope technique to switch one card for another with no gimmicks.

As you learn these sleights, pay close attention to the way Dan has incorporated them into routines designed to conceal the moves and entertain the audience.

Twisted Queens by SansMinds Magic

If you were to tear apart a lady limb from limb, how would it look? It's quite a gruesome image, but imagine she were to put herself back together. Would she look the same afterwards?

Twisted Queens is a much simpler and direct approach to the classic torn and restored card effect. You focus on the idea of ripping apart the queens to really sink into the spectators hear, and their imagination is what restores the queen, in their own hands. It's easy to do and you'll get unbelievable reactions.

REVIEWS

"I think that this one can play strong. It's definitely something different from the typical torn and restored card. "
Wayne Kawamoto, Magic.About.com 5/7/2014 Full Review

"The handling is very easy and well within the reach of all levels of performers. Having tested this out in several shows I can attest to the strong reaction not only when the card is restored but the kicker of the queen. "
Paul Romhany, *Reviews Vanish Magazine 1/27/2014

Hacking Sack & Bolt by Curtis Kam

https://www.vanishingincmagic.com/magic-downloads/close-up-magic-downloads/hacking-sack-and-bolt/

Sach's dice routine is a revered classic of close-up magic. It's a lovely routine showcasing pure sleight of hand, but it is rarely done well because it's rarely taught well. Curtis Kam's approach is the best we've seen, because the move is done in and out of the SPECTATOR'S hand. This small but critical improvement solves the main weakness of the classic routine--that everyone suspects the dice are gimmicked. By allowing the spectator to examine and hold the dice between every magical change, you essentially eliminate this suspicion. This is very smart thinking. Curtis has some wonderful touches on this routine, and this download is the perfect way to learn a close-up routine you can do that requires no cards, no coins, and no table.

As a BONUS, you also get Bolt: a very cool, simple effect in which a bolt eerily twists out of a nut. Made from things you can find at a hardware store for just a few dollars, this is a perfect interlude piece to perform between lengthier effects. Are you fooled? We were!

Paul Harris Presents Phone Phreak by Jeff Prace & Paul Harris

Paul Harris Presents
Phone Phreak
Created by Jeff Prace

The PHREAKY automatic bill change!

Nothing to palm, ditch, or steal. Everything can be examined!

"This is literally the best idea involving a cell phone I've ever seen. Versatile, visual, and the method is revolutionary. If you have an iPhone, you need this... you know you do."
-Dan Harlan

You show a folded $1 "emergency" dollar (or other currency) stashed under the clear iPhone case that protects your phone. Everyone can clearly see the single dollar bill through the back of the case. Of course, for a bigger emergency you require a bigger bill... a quick wave of your empty hand and the dollar instantly changes to $5! Or if you feel like it, use no cover at all: just a quick shake and the $1 changes to a $5 in full view!

You then drop the cased phone with the changed $5 onto a spectator's hand, and the $5 instantly changes to a $20 bill (or any other bill you would like)!

She can immediately pop off the phone case and remove the $20 bill herself. And there's genuinely nothing else there! Just the phone, the case, and the bill.

Paragon 3D by Jon Allen

A small clear box is placed on someone's hand, or table. Viewable from any angle, a folded card is seen inside. After performing your favourite signed card routine, the card in the box is tipped out onto your hand. The box is clearly empty and you cleanly unfold the card in your hand to reveal the signed card.

When Jon Allen released Paragon, many said it was the ultimate solution to the 'Card To Clear Box' effect. However, Jon has now taken it to a new level of performance and deception. With an actual folded card visible inside the box visible from ANY angle he has created the absolute cleanest and most natural Card to Clear Box ever! Perfect for strolling, restaurant, formal close up and even parlour magicians.

Paragon 3D has fooled and amazed some of the most renowned close up magicians on the planet. The illusion is so perfect you will fool yourself... and everyone who sees it will be blown away!

Some important points for you to consider:

The box can be viewed from any angle - on top, underneath, the sides and even behind
The card inside the box is an actual folded card, not a semi-replica or a picture
Every action from tipping out to the reveal is perfectly natural
You can safely hand the box to someone or place it on a table before and after the reveal
The box is 100% examinable
Everything ends clean
No performing limitations
Resets easily and quickly
You can easily change the object in the box i.e. playing card, paper money, prediction
Perfect for magic effects or mentalism
